Ski mountaineering competitions are regulated internationally by the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF). Ski Mountaineering Competition Canada (SMCC) and the Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) are members and participate in the ISMF. The SMCC and the ACC make up the governing body of ski mountaineering competition in Canada.

SMCC and the ACC coordinate the race calendar, ensure races are run according to ISMF rules, record results, keep athletes’ rankings, train and certify race officials and select national team members for international events.

National Team Selection Criteria is released each year for the coming season.

Selection is based off of the Athletes performance in Canadian and International ISMF certified races. All National Team members must be members of the Alpine Club of Canada. Athletes are expected to e-mail the National Team Manager expressing their desire to be selected to the team. SMCC reserves the right to adjust the selection rules & criteria after further feedback from athletes and observations made throughout the season.

If you are interested in joining the Team, please speak to a National Team Athlete at a race or e-mail the National Team Manager.
